Speaker:
Kevin Weinfurt, PhD, Professor in Population Health Sciences
Dr. Weinfurt will unpack the logic of generalizations and the role of values in making claims about generalizability. He will discuss:
- How scientists often speak about the generalizability of a study, of findings, of a dataset, etc. It is almost expected that any study in population health sciences makes some comment about the generalizability of the findings in the Discussion section.
- How our normal way of talking about generalizability masks important moral considerations.
Discussant: Dr. Jennifer Gierisch, Associate Professor in Population Health Sciences
