Priorities for US Health Policy

During the Department of Population Health Sciences External Speaker Series, Dr. Sherry Glied will answer important questions pertaining to U.S. Health Policy, including: - What are the most important problems and what are the problems most likely to be addressed (and why are those often different)? - What are the short- and long-term impacts/lessons from COVID-19 for the future of US health policy? - How should we think about the next iteration of health policy development? Zoom Info: https://duke.zoom.us/j/7878684794 About Our Speaker Since 2013, Dr. Glied has been Dean of NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Previously she was Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. From July 2010-August 2012, Glied served as Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the Department of Health and Human Services and before that served as Senior Economist on the President's Council of Economic Advisers under Presidents Bush and Clinton. She also participated in the Clinton Health Care Task Force. Glied has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Social Insurance, and served as a member of the Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking. Glied's principal areas of research are in health policy reform and mental health care policy. She is an economist, receiving her BA from Yale Univ., MA from the Univ. of Toronto, and PhD from Harvard Univ.
